I have an old South Bend fiberglass rod. It is an 8' 9" HDH. I need to figure out guide placement. It has no guides on it now so I have no idea where to place them. Anyone know or can you point me in the right direction? Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?

I'd click on the LIBRARY button above and read Tom's Static Guide Placement article, William. Putter Williston, ND Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?

Thank you!
Any tips on placing the guides in such a temporary manner and still allowing enough strength to load the butt section? Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?

I'd use surgical tubing or modeler's fuel line (available in different sizes) cut into small rings to temporarily place the guides. Tape works, also, though. Putter Williston, ND Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?

William,
Plain old masking tape is plenty strong for holding guides while 'testing'. I've fished a few rods with the guides taped on, just to 'see' how it would fish in certain configurations, and the tape held up fine. Nice thing about the tubing, though, is that you can move the guides about easier. Do whichever is easiest for you. Good Luck! Buddy Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?

You don't need to load up the guides, you can glue the tip in place, and anchor that down to simulate a load on the rod, then just run a piece of line through the rest of the guides with a small sinker on the end to hold it taught. Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?

Hi Randy
When I clicked on the Library button, I obtained a listing of most recent additions. I am unable to find more articles especially the ones on guides spacing. Could you please help by telling me how I can get into the full library Thank you Ding Re: Fiberglass blank-- guide spacing?
