I just bought this sweet rod - a 7'8" 2-piece for a # 5 line - not in mint condition but the handle, winding check and inscription are in good shape and need no work other than maybe an extra layer of finish.
However the rest of the rod needs new wraps, guides and some cosmetic work around the ferrules. The blank itself is in acceptable shape and I dont want to touch it - it seems to be painted. The wraps appears to be tan with red tippings, but I cant seem to find the right thread color. Does anyone know which color they used I've contacted Hardy but havnt heard from them yet. Also I would like to know if marine varnish would be alright to use on top of the old finish ?. Thanks Peter Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/23/2005 06:58AM by Peter Mulbjerg.
