I hope someone can help me on this. I got free decals from a vendor on this site (a long time ago) and I can't figure out how to apply them? After destroying most of them, I'm down to a sheet of about 8. I discovered that you have to wet them to get the decal to come off of the backing. But then the darn thing disintegrates into mush!! What do I have to do? Thanks, Scott. Re: Help: Decal...water decal?

That doesn't happen to the decals from Jimi... but it does with the "FREE" decals that were around here last year... I got some of those "FREE" decals also,,, and your right,,, they fell apart. You got what you paid for, just like I did. Re: Help: Decal...water decal?

I haven't tried the FREE ones that Art is referring to, as Ifigured that like most things in life, it it's too good to be true, it usually is. But if they are anything like the waterslides available in hobby shops 20 years ago, you have to work fast and to close tolerances. Dip them for about 2 seconds and immediately put some pressure on the decal so that as soon as it releases, you can move it. The tough part with them is you, or at least I, can only make them work by applying to a dry surface, and once they are on, that's where they stay. No adjustment allowed.
My advice is to pony up a couple of bucks and have Jimi make you up what you want. You won't be disappointed, especially if you get his "new" waterslides. Durn near idiot proof. Re: Help: Decal...water decal?

Mick is right, the new waterslide decals from Decal Connection are awesome, easy to apply, and won't tear. My son and I have build three rods, used a bunch of the regular decals on the first two rods, then with the third rod using the new waterslide decal material we used only one decal. They are absolutely great, and Jimi is also great to work with. Re: Help: Decal...water decal?

Hit the decals with a spray coat of Testor's Dull Cote, it will give the decal a thin film of lacquer and help it stay together, old model railroader's trick. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
