Please recommend gel or paint pen to use

I need to do some inscriptions and I'm going to try again with either a gel or a paint pen. I need the finest tip I can get and something or some brand where the gel or ink will actually flow pretty well. Can anyone recommend a good brand that they know works for writing on rods? I need to use metallic gold and silver so it would have to be a metallic. Ones I have used in the past did not work very well. Gel didn't flow or paint was too thick and hard to write with. I'm going to try this again but need a good pen.

Danny, the ones that I always used to use on my rods were the Sanford Gold Coat and Silver Coat. They're available in different tip sizes, including extra fine, slim, and others. The extra fine work great and I never had a problem with them. They dry in less than a half hour and can be top coated with finish without doing anything else to the signature at that time.

Now I have the Alps printer and if part of the decal doesn't adhere (should probably say 'gets rubbed off'), I still use these pens to touch the decal up under a magnifier and they blend perfectly with the Alps printer's metallic gold and silver tapes.

Should add that I got them at a local office supply store. The ink won't come off with alcohol (probably why it can be topcoated with finish?); if I made a mistake, I used a dab of acetone on the corner of a paper towel to rub out the error.

Do a search on my name. I posted a detailed explanation of how I inscribe with a gel pen, and which pen I use.

Jeff,

I did a search on your name and it only came up with 10 results and the only one mention inscriptions was this post.

I found a 5 set of RoseArt ultra fine point metallic permanent felt tip markers at Wal-Mart for a few $. They have the ultra fine point on one end and the fine point on the other. Colors are silver, gold, green, blue, and purple. It wipes off with a little scrubbing with alcohol, but dries almost instantly and can be coated with finish without wiping off. If you can't find these then look at a craft store in the scrap book area at metallic paint pens. I found some made by Pen-touch that have a .7mm tip. Not quite as fine tipped as the RoseArt markers, and you have to wait for the paint to dry, but they still work.

Sorry Danny,
Didn't realize older posts were gone. I'll elaborate when I get a chance.
