Looking for a recommendation for a casting blank to use for 3/8 to 1oz. jigs for lake trout. I really like building on the SCIII blanks for flyrods, but have never ventured into the casting blank arena. Most of the fish avg. 5-6lbs, with an occasional 10lb. surprise. Thanks for any suggestions! Re: Blank for lake trout jigging?

If you like the SCIII flyrods, try the SCIII casting blanks. I don't think you will be disappointed. I like 6'6" for jigging. Just match the lure weight to your liking.

Thanks Kevin, I appreciate your reply. Actually, I've been leaning toward the SCIII AC70MHF casting blank, but just wondered if there were any "favorites" out there. I really like the way these SCIII's look when finished so in the end I'll probably stick with this blank. Thanks again! Re: Blank for lake trout jigging?

Mike,
This is off your topic but a few years ago you posted questions about Seth-Green rods in the Finger Lakes. That's my kind of fishing for Lake Trout on Keuka Lake. Did you ever figure out components for the Seth-Green rod? I too am using 3rd generation rods and I have an interest in building one or more for myself. Mike jigging
