I appreciate the replies to my question on turning green wood, which was a cherry burl. In just a few days after turning the insert my question was answered first hand! The insert became lumpy, crooked, and warped a great deal. There were no splits, but the original shape was completely altered. Seems patience is a virtue. This wood will make some beautiful seats, but not for a while!
Agains, thanks for the responses. Re: Turning green wood followup

While I'm also impatient depending on what part of the country you live in you can speed up the process.
I put the green blanks in a zip lock bag and leave them on the dash of my truck. In Tucson it usually worked in a couple of weeks. I'm in Idaho/Wa area now and haven't tried it yet as I've not unpacked my lathe. Re: Turning green wood followup

That works in Alabama in the summer, too. It's hot enough to melt a package of low temp hot glue. Ralph If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
