I'm going nuts trying to figure out the guide spacing for an older Forecast fly rod blank I'm building. It is the 7'6", 4 piece, 4 weight. I've been taping guides on the blank for three days trying to figure out the spacing I should use and I just cant get it right. The blank is very soft at the tip and fairly stiff in the butt. I know that many of you have built on this blank before so perhaps one of you could share what spacings you used? I would be extremely grateful. Thank you. Re: I give up! please help me out

Mitch, go to the Library above and read the article on Static Guide Placement. This should help. Ralph If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Re: I give up! please help me out

Here are a couple of generic spacings for a 7'6" blank. The first one has been used on many of our Sig III and IV blanks.
The measurement is from the tip; 5", 10.75", 17", 23.625", 30.625", 38", 45.75", 55.25", 66.75" This is a generic spacing for any 7'6" rod. 4.5", 8.5", 13.5", 18.625", 24.125", 30", 36.25", 44.25", 54", 64.5" Remember you can move the guides around a little, be open to trying different guide sizes as a smaller guide will sometimes create more bend and a larger guide less bend in the blank. If you go to the Hook and Hackle website they have a chart for guide spacing. I also have a forecast blank that I bought from H & H, and that's where I found my spacing.
