Josh,
I have a 6 wt XT-51 that I really like a lot. Can't tell you about the shooting heads as I've never used them. I would consider looking into a Dan Craft FT blank. The price should fall between the IM7 and XT 51. I love my FT908-4.

For handling shooting heads, look into the Graphite USA fly blanks - lots of power to carry the extra load or some of the Lamiglas heavier fly blanks.

Regards.

Josh,

Just got our FT909-4s in and they will match anything out there for performance(IMHO) and are a bargain!

GUSA is a very powerful blank. Great quality too! I like the St. Croix in the SCIV for this though. Great blank at a decent price.

The 908-4 FT I have really shines with an Airflo 40+ Distance line-- basically an integrated head system.

Josh--if you haven't tried one already, you owe it to yourself to try the FT908-4 or new FT909-4. I've cast a number of the 9ft-ers with a 40+ and they are simply stunning. Great prices, too! You can view the whole lineup at our site, though I haven't added the new 9wt yet...it should be up by the end of the weekend.
