I think I have come to the point where I'm stuck with respect to the intersect guide in the concept system. I have mounted the reel and used the table edge to locate the intersect point. My question is do I locate the guides toward the butt without moving the blank or do I tape the intersect guide to the blank, then move its outside edge to the table edge and then locate the other butt guides? I get different locations depending on which method I use.
The intersect guide will be a #6 ceramic fly guide and out to the tip. Thank you for your help. I hope i'm not making this to complicted. Gary Re: concept intersect guide

Leave the blank where it is. Locate the intersect guide so that it's top edge just touches the edge of the table. This will likely mean that it will be located just a tad behind the actual intersection of the blank and the table edge. Does that help?

I make my intersect line from the reel run though the center of the intersect guide even if I have to go a size larger and then go down to size # 6 I feel this works a little better.
I also take the spool off the reel and use the metal shaft as a streight edge. A little easyer Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/06/2005 08:09AM by bill boettcher. Re: concept intersect guide

Aloha Tom,
When you say "Locate the intersect guide so that its top edge just touches the edge of the table." do you mean the edge of the eye closest to or farthest from the rod blank in a spinning rod setup situation? Mahalo. Re: concept intersect guide

The outside edge, furthest from the rod. The photos in the article (in the online library) show this in place.
