I used some Flex Coat rod finish that is over a year old. I mixed it for three minutes it never went clear and it always looked like there were a million bubbles in it. It seemed to apply clear, but it was turning to chewing gum by the time I reached the fourth guide in less than 30 minutes. Temp here 66 degrees, soild overcast. Anyone experienced this?

It has nothing to do with the age - epoxy finishes do not wear out or have any appreciable shelf life.

Bubbles generally come from stirring, and the faster you stir, the more bubbles you create. Using a mechanical mixer or pouring your epoxy out onto a flat piece of foil before use will help.

Flex Coat will begin to thicken in about 25 to 30 minutes at around 68F to 70F. Realistically, you should be able to finish all your wraps in just a few minutes. I know that some work very slow, and in those cases it's better to mix up a batch and do the bottom area guides, then mix up more and finish off the guides nearer the tip.
