Finishing Titanium Guides

I've got some titanium guides that I'll be installing on a mooching rod, but I've never worked with them before. Are there any cavets associated with finishing these kinds of guides I should be aware of? Generally for my fly rods I'll file the whole length of the foot to achieve a thin tapered line, should I do the same with the titanium guides? Also, will I be able to finish it with standard steel files or will the material be to hard?

I just finished two sets of the Fuji Ti single-foot guides, and actually found them easier to work with than regular snake guides. I used regular steel files and was able to taper the foot nicely.

I used a Belt sander, with I think 80 grit this AM on 50 TISIC's - much easier to file "regular" guides. I'm pretty sure my bet was a little worn befor eI started, but I will need a new belt after today. I think?

Those white sparks that fly off remind me of 4th of July.

I use a 120 grit belt on my 1" sander.
The Ti is the same as any other guide as far as finishes go.
I can't think of anything lurking that you need to know about.
Enjoy the light weight trouble free nature of those babies!

Don't over heat them when grinding them. They hand file easy

In this particular case are they TiCH coated or full titanium guides? You mention the finish in particular, so I had to ask. The guides we have are the Titan Guides by American tackle :)

Wow... With the cost of high quality guides, that would suck! I can't imagine ruining more than a few of these before I'd get reallllll skittish ;)
