Rainshadow V St. Croix float blank

Hello,

I'd like to get your opinions on the Rainshadow IST1562F and the St. Croix 25130LM2 float blanks. I'm building a rod for Great Lakes float fishing and will be using a spinning reel.

I'm looking for comments on weight, power and overall quality of the blanks.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

HI
I have built on both blanks but I prefer the Rainshadow IST 1562F Blank overall.

Hey Rolly,

Thanks for your post. Just curious why you like the Rainshadow better?

Thanks again,
Steve

I find that the Rainshadow has a better tip section while it has a very strong butt. Just my own personal feelings about the blanks. I also love the Olive green colour that is available in the Rainshadow.

The RS blanks are straight and the ferrule fit is very good. Quaility wise I dont think you can wrong with either one,

Rolly

I have two IST1562F one built and one just when I get back to my own rods. In two years I have landed over 30 Steelhead and 10 salmon to 20lbs on the Rainshadow with out a problem.

Thanks everyone! Just have to wait for the blank. Apparently Baston has stopped production because they've had problems with the ferrule breaking. It looks like a month or two. No big deal since we don't have summer run fish. I'm sure it will be ready by October.
