No one to tell this story to (who would care), so I thought I would post. I built a 000 weight on a prototype Dan Craft 4 piece blank and extended the butt with an aluminum sleeve to an overall length of 5'2". One piece handle from a turned down Cork-a-lon ice grip. Forbes micro with 25 feet of 20 lb. greased backing for a ine with attached braided leader. Rod and reel 1.5 ounces. Fishing in Broken Bow, OK. First trout was a 5 inch rainbow. Neat. I kept hearing a big fish splashing behind me so I cast the #18 Elk Hair Caddis over him. Big mistake. The fish had ME on for several minutes until I got him in. 14 inches, no camera. After releasing unharmed, I noticed the new bend in the aluminum sleeve under the foam. Switched to the ONE for the rest of the evening. Back home, I have stripped off the foam, cut the sleeve back to the end of the blank (I will leave it in place) and am making a cork grip for the rematch. Messin' with rods is the best!
