I am about to start a project on a browning casting style rod 8'6" long. The company only put six guides on it and the bend of the rod allows the line to go past the blank to the underside. After working with some tape and some new guides i have a new guide spacing that I want to use but I have one problem before I start cutting guides off. The original guides will have a dull spot under them and only one of the originals line up with the new spacing. How can I get rid of this dull spot on the blank? Is there a product on the market to refinish these spots that will look good on the finished product or do I have to refinish the entire rod? Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you in advance. Jason Henderson jj7leaf@yahoo.com Re: dull spots from moving guides

Hello Jason
After the guides and old wrap coating have been carefully removed use a piece of 3M scoth brite pad to give the entire rod blank a cleaning and slight buffing. Then coat the entire rod blank with one or two thin coats of U40 Perma Gloss. The pad to use is the 3M number 7448 or 7445. Let this cure for over night and then put the guides on. I suggest practicing on a scrap blank. Regards Joe Kassuba His Rod Shop Joe Kassuba Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
