Gatti blanks

Hi All,
Got myself a 9' 3 piece Gatti blank to build. I notice on the spacing
guide supplied they recommend a minimum 50mm ferrule wrap.
I normally stick with Tom's formula of 11/2 times the diameter of the
ferrule.
Should I stick with what I normally do or go with Gatti's recommendation.
The blank is an FR905-3PA.
Anyone any experience with this blank ?

Thanks in advance,
Glen

I don't know for sure, but for warantee purposses, I might would stick to the manufacturer's recomended minimum. I have a Gatti spin blank and I will be doing as they say.

Thanks for the replies - I never thought about the warrantee issues.
Best stick to what they recommend.
There seems to be a mixed bag of opinions on the breakage of
these rods. Too late now for me though as I got the blank last week, but
is there anything I should be aware of ?

Thanks,
Glen

I built a 9' #9 Gatti FT a year ago and have been using it steadily in the Mosquito Lagoon. No problems yet, (knock on wood) and the rod launches a #10 shooting head. I suspect a large number of rods are broken going to and from fishing, especially in vehicles, but the damage isn't apparent until the rod is loaded.

Not really on the PA's. I haven't had any problems with them.
On the other hand, The FRHP's are not forgiving to high sticking.

Not really. I'd use RSF Recoils on it.

The PA's are easy casting rods and I think you'll end up loving it.

Glen , high sticking is a term use to describe the angle of the butt end of a rod to the position of the tip . When fighting a large fish some people tend to hold the rod high in the air with the angle of the butt vertical , which makes the tip do a 180 deg bend twards the water of fish when it is close to the angler or boat . When you have the rod in this position the majority of the pressure is transfured too far down the rod , and into a very small area , thus creating far too much stress on that part of the blank . You can probably guess what happens next ....................... Snap . Hope you can understand , have fun , JHD
