Hey guys. I normally run 12 guides on 13 ft rods. I know you are suppose to run one more guide then the # of ft the blank is. Does anyone know the spacing for guides on a 13 ft. 3 piece?

Is this a fly rod, noodle rod, or float rod? Re: steelhead rod guide spacing for 13 ft?

dan,
If that is for the Talon blanks, you'll need to keep them fairly close in the tip end and space them a little farther in the butt. The butt is pretty stiff and you can get away with farther spacing for static distribution. Just make sure your line doesn't sag off of the pin between the guides. I'd say you'll end up at 14 or 15 guides for that rod. Start the first one about 4 1/2" from the tip and progressively space them for the top third.
