Donjer Flocking Adhesive

Is the Donjer Flocking Adhesive designed for application to sealed wood application? I am wondering if it will stay on "graphite" reel seats and blank surfaces. I really do not want to play with potential failure on a custom rod for a customer without some good information. Is any priming or surface prep needed. I am thinking about doing some split grips with different colors of flock on different sections.

Has anyone used the new Fusion Krylon spray paint in a can on "graphite" reel seats or blank sections? Would you expect this type of paint to stay put? The text on the can says for use on plastic including nylon and vinyl.

Bill,

In Tom's article he advised that any material used that would absorb the flocking adhesive should be sealed before appling the adhesive. Tom said that the only reason for doing this was so you would not waste the adhesive.

Sorry but I have no info on the Krylon paint.

Adhesives should only be applied to water break free surfaces. The Donjer flock adhesive will be fine on reel seats and rod blanks. The needn't be sealed as they're not pourous. But you should prep them by cleaning and Scotchbriting just as you would if you were going to epoxy something to them.

I am experimenting with the Krylon myself and know a few others that have used it as well....Results mixed, mostly due to being too heavy handed with the coats of paint (my problem). It seems to hold up pretty well but I don't know about long term durability and flexability.
