All,
Looking for a rod support to use with my PSI Turncrafter Pro. There are times when I would like to turn a completed handle assembly in the lathe, and not use my wrapper for this. I know I've seen pictures of those that have done this. Any clues on how I can make or buy these? Thanks, Terry Re: Rod Support for PSI Turncrafter Pro

That would be interesting! I can't imagine turning a whole rod in my Trurncrafter at that speed. I'd be afraid I'd end up with a multi piece rod. I turn my glued up handles on a mandrel. No guts, I guess!!
I'd be curious to know if anyone is doing this! Mike Re: Rod Support for PSI Turncrafter Pro

What you've seen are called "steady rests" and generallly they just rub the wood spindles to give them some support.
The only steady rest I've seen with roller wheels is made by OneWay in Canada. Nice unit but maybe a bit too heavy and large for use on the Penn State with a fishing rod. You could certainly make up one of your own with very little in the way of machine skills. .................. Re: Rod Support for PSI Turncrafter Pro

Check Harbor Freight, just click on lathe accessories.
