Gudebrod gunmetal

Can anyone tell me what this looks like without CP after applying epoxy? I assume it darkens a bit with the color of the blank- but does it hold any of it silver hues? I am wrapping it with garnet hoping no colors bleed, is this a concern? Thanks for any help guys.

If I remember correctly, it turns to a very dark gray, at least on a matte black blank. Not very silvery.

I used on as a trim and it turned very dark (on a matte gray blank) without CP. I think you should test it against the Garnet. It may not contrast to your liking or may be it will. Something to think about is to wrap with Garnet, add the Gunmetal trim using the nail knot approach and then carefully apply CP to the trim and then finish.

i will say that because of my experience, I tried the metallic Pewter and preferred the outcome. It was dark, but did have the slivery/metallic hue I was looking for.

I used gunmetal on wraps on an old maroon fenwick feralite blank. The wraps looked like duct tape if i remember correctly before I applied flex coat. After I finished the wraps (I used no color preserver) it darkened quite a bit and looked like a dark grey.

I am only using it as a trim wrap maybe 4 turns at the most so dark grey in my eye would look great with the dark blank and garnet with no cp. I did a test but the blank color was slightly different so I was just wondering you all's opinion, as it is greatly valued.

I'm with Steve on the pewter metalic . I tried the gunmetal and had the same results. The pewter doesn't look to flashy either , nice and classy . JHD

Almost black on a dark grey blank. Just very very very dark charcoal as the name implies. Pretty much the same color as the blank but maybe a shade darker.

I actually just finished this rod and the gunmetal turned darker but still retianed a little silver color-nice transition into the garnet. I was using a blue blank not black that is probably why.
