I am new to rod building and wondered how you wrap the guides....Do you use a single row of threads or do you do another layer on top of them? Your help is appreciated.

Shane,
A single row of "A" thread is all you need for most rods. What you need is some books to help you get started. I would recommend the rod byilding book by Tom Kirkman. There is some good videos also- Ken Preston's video, Doc Ski' s is another. Look at the sponsers list to the left and esveral of them sell those books & videos. Hank On The Rocks Fishing Wells, ME. Check out Mudhole's website at left. They have a section entitled "Rodbuilding 101" and there are some great free videos online that show you how to wrap guides step by step.
