Well, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been reading topics here for about three weeks and have just completed my first rod (yippeee). I did however manage to finally register on the site but forgot to add my last name when typing my user name. Any way to fix this? Oh well, Got another Question for you all: What would be a good, CHEAP blank to use while i am still learning so i am not so terrified of messing up? I want to construct a few cheap like 7ft worm fishing (Bass) rods for me and my buddies. I would like to know a good source to get some and perhaps some model numbers. The last one i built seamed like it would have been a good worm rod while it was still a blank but when i put all the guides on and fished it I realized it was more of a crankbait or spinner bait rod. :) I needed one of those any ways. Any assitance would be helpful. By the way if any of you live in Houston, Tx let me know. I could use a good Mentor. Re: Hello Everyone

Check the directory here to find other builders in your local area. There are over 700 listed. Texas has quite a few and you may be able to find someone near you. Re: Hello Everyone

I'm not up on FW blanks & prices, I know a few years ago ST. Croix SCII's were quite "cheap" and pretty good value for teh $$$. THEre are probably otehrs, I'm just not familiar with them.
What are you afraid of messing up? It's a fishing rod - glue seat wrap guides - it's hard to do wrong...worst case you'll have a rod which has mis-aligned guides, poorly spaced, a little unbalanced..... just about as good as factory rod, lol. Re: Hello Everyone

It depends on your definition of cheap, but I second what Myles says, try Robert at FishSticks4U. The ISB (RX7) and SB (RX6) blanks might suit your purpose. They come in 7-foot models, fast actions, various powers. Re: Hello Everyone
