what handle or grip configuration do most of you use for a 10' switch rod? do you use a removable fighting butt ?

I have the same question about configuration. From what I have read, most people are installing 7-10" full wells in front and somewhere around 3.5" butt (installed directly on the blank and not removable. I am building one currently and will opt for 10" in front and 3.5 behind.

for a reel seat i used a pack bay A8. i took a 5" fighting butt and removed the cork. what you are left with is
a 5" shaft of about 3/8 diameter (measure it cause i'm not sure now) i bought a piece of aluminum tubing from a store called "hobby people". it fit the shaft and i epoxied an 8" piece in place. on this i built an extention butt with an aluminum, rubber tipped butt cap. for the actual cork i bought a 10" pre made spinning handle and re-shaped it to my liking. now i can remove it. i also have a pack bay 2" fighting butt or i can put a pack bay butt plug on. it all just screws together. for your actual grip you can do anything you want. i made a 10" handle (again i used a pre made spinning handle and re-shaped it. i used the
10' three piece rainshadow rx7 blank but you may want a faster rod and i believe dan craft has something for you.
