Purple and Gold Colors

I am looking at building a light trout rod for my dad in the colors of his favorite college team - the UW Huskies. Can anyone point me to where i might be able to find a purple blank?

p.s. I will also need to build myself something in crimson and grey since I am an arch rival WSU Cougar alumni and will no doubt have to look at that purple and gold thing wayyyyyy to much!

Might I suggest using a BLACK blank? I have done that quite often and made several for guys from lousiana that rout for LSU. I used mettalic gold with black and gold Tic spinning guides , a fuji reel seat with gold hoods and so on.

good luck

I know that color combination judgements are in the eyes of the beholder, but I have had great reviews for the rods I have wrapped using NCP purple with either gold or Sulky holographic trim and AMTAK holographic guides. The purple hues from the guides complement nicely the NCP purple.

I suggest doing what I did. A black blank, metallic gold base wrap, regular nylon purple thread with no C.P.over the gold base wrap and metallic gold inlays in the purple. I think it came out very nice.
