Portable(packable?) rod blank recommendations.

Well, I've got orders leaving FL and heading to a Destroyer in Japan in January. I'd like to design a set of 3 spinning rods and a case for them that would be easy to stow on the ship. 3 rods because I never know where I'll pull into and what kind of set up I'll need. In places like Guam I've fished off the shore with 8lb test and had a blast with Bluefin Trevally, other places like the Middle East I fished off the piers with surf rods.
So I'd like to make a set of 3 rods... maybe 1 8lb test 7'er, one for 12-15 8'er, and one heavier 8'er, maybe a 20lb blank. The lighter ones I was thinking I could maybe use a 3 piece fly rod blank, but not sure about the heavier one. Any ideas on what I could do to make a nice set without spending a fortune? Price range would probably be $70-100 per blank. Would like to match the blanks from the same series, but if not logical, not a problem. I looked at the St Croix, but they aren't log enough and not heavy enough. Bass pro has a lot of 3 piece rods, but already built. They have the 3 piece All Star blanks, but show them as sold out. Any other ideas? Not sure if a fly rod will be fast enough action to cast well. Thanks, Phil Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/10/2005 07:47PM by Phil Richmond. Take a look at Dan Craft FT series blanks. They are 4 piece fly rod blanks but they should make up into 3 piece spinning rod blanks as they have a fast action. Look in CCS Data Site on the upper left hand column and go to blanks section when it opens. Steve Kartalia and I have both entered information on these blanks. Thanks for the heads up. I've never dealt with CCS before. I looked it up and printed it. The problem I'm having is there are so many fly rod blanks, but not a whole lot of spinning/casting rods to compare them to. So I'm a bit confused at what I'm looking for. I think if there were more spinning blanks and more had line ratings with them that I would be able to figure it out better. Maybe I'll have to call them tomorrow and see what they recommend for blanks. Unless someone can share what I should be looking for for an ERN and AA number for a 8lb rod, 12-15lb rod, and 20lb rod. Thanks. Re: Portable(packable?) rod blank recommendations.

Also look at Batson's lineup. They have spinning/bass travel blanks in both Forecast and RX7. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
