I am looking into building a 9'6'' fly rod for my cousin. Most Likely between a 4 and 6 weight. So my question is, which is lighter, Fenwick or St. Croix?? I am going to use a kit to build this rod

The Fenwick company that was once popular among rod builders has not made or sold blanks in some years. I did see some new Fenwick fly rods in the Cabelas catalog and assume they are made by the same people who make the rods for Berkley.

I would choose the St. Croix over the Fenwick in a second.

I would also recommend sticking with a domestic manufacturer. Fenwick has not been built in the US since the mid to late 80's.

The new Fenwick is not your father's Fenwick. Go with the St Croix.

My husband has a Fenwick glass rod that's over 30 years old. The tip broke while landing a fish. It's 71/2 " M392600 glass rod. Have any idea what the cost would be to have fixed? Thank You.
