I'm about to put together another rod based on the St. Croix SCV blank. Any one have some favorite thread color combinations to share that compliment the deep brown color of this blank? My last choice, green and gold, was such a great one.
Thanks all. Re: thread color match for St. Croix SCV

The only thread color I found that really completely blended with the blank was Pearsall's gossamer java brown silk. All my other browns weren't quite right. Apparently, St. Croix has their own brown thread color that does match perfectly, but you have to order it from them.
Like you, I used green on the last one. The green I used is sz. A nylon, and is called evergreen. It's a color that Angler's Workshop has dyed specifically for them (I think by Gudebrod???). When on that SCV blank with no CP, it darkens up to almost black, but still keeps a nice green tint to it. Overall, it's very nice and understated. Re: thread color match for St. Croix SCV

I am considering the same thing. I am almost set on getting the ceramic guides with the green shock ring, but I can't find them in fly guides since it will be a light action spinner and I want to use the concept system. Re: thread color match for St. Croix SCV

If I remember right in the resources section of the St Croix site somewhere, they list the thread colors they use on their rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
