Feather Fish?

I was admiring some of the feather inlay's on the photo page when an idea hit me. I was wondering how it would look to create a fish using various feather combinations. Has anyone tried this? Is this too hard to do? I'm thinking of trying this on my next rod and any tips would be appreciated.

Pat Vinzant and Lloyd Starrush have both been doing this for many years. By varying the types and sizes of feathers, you can create nearly any part of any fish you desire. Some amount of imagination and creativity will be required, of course.

I saw a picture in an old Rodcrafters Mag of a rod done by Pat Vinzant with a Mai Mai chasing a school of baitfish. His craftsmanship and originality is exceptional.
