Loomis Guide Spacings

Hi

I recently purchased a couple of Loomis IMX slate fly rod blanks 8’4wt (F964-3) and 9’9”8wt (F1178-3). I went onto their web site to get the guide spacings for them but the web page showing this seems to have been taken down. Can anyone tell me what the spacings should be.

Thanks

I have it, but does it seem reasonable to space all guides on a rod the same no matter if it's a GL2 or a GLX? No difference between a fast 8 weight and a moderate 3 weight as long as it's the same length? That what many spacing charts give you. At best they are a starting point, than use the static guide spacing method discribed in the article in the library above. E -mail me if you still want the chart.

Look for a spacing chart at say ST Croix's site. Then addjust as needed

Any guide spacing chart is only an approximation. That means it's just close to where the guides need to be placed. All rod blanks, even the same weight and model number are slightly or not so slightly different because rod blanks are made around a steel mandrel. Click on 'Library, above, and read "Static Guide Placement" by Tom Kirkman. This will tell/teach you how to place the guides properly. Believe me, you'll have a better finished rod. Ralph

If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again.
