Cork Rings

Looking to buy some cork rings. Ive read a lot about the variations in quality from one distributor to the other. Ones FLOR grade might be the same as anothers Select grade, etc.

Where can I get the best cork rings for the best prices? Thanks.

One thing is for sure, the very best and clearest rings won't come cheap. "Best rings at the best prices" is somewhat of a loaded question. Surely there are some good values out there in cork rings, but I'd be very surprised if you can obtain really good and clear rings for less than $1.25 to $1.50 per ring. And that would represent a pretty good value by today's standards.

I figured as such, but some retailers do have better cork than others for the price. Which ones have the best prices on cork and provide a good product?

I have found that when filling in your cork, I take a pin and tooth pick and clean out the holes. This alows the filler to go into the hole and not just lay over it and get taken off when sanding
This may help

I've had good luck with Angler's Workshop for regular rings. You could give Andy Dear at Lamar Reel Seats a shot as well, he's got some very interesting burl and burnt rings. If you go for regular rings from any of the sponsors, be prepared to fork over your first born for the best quality.

Last year I ordered cork from about a half a dozen vendors looking for that quality/price optimum. I found that my original source was still the best. In my opinion, for the money you pay, Angler's Workshop SuperFine rings are the way to go.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have.

I was looking at Anglers Workshop, actually that is where I was thinking of buying from! Has anybody tried from Goldenwitch? I had narrowed my choices to buy the cork from between Anglers and Goldenwitch. If anybody has any input on any of the other retailers I would like to hear. Thanks.

Either one. If the rings turn out to be what you want, you've found the right place. Just remember that what you get once may or may not be as good as the next batch. Both companies have a good rep as to the quality of their cork.

Jay,

I have ordered cork from most of the supply houses including REC, Golden Witch, Angler's Workshop, Mud Hole, and Clemans before it closed. The Golden Witch cork has been the best. However, the last shipment I received was not as good as orders I have received in years past. Many here have had good results with Angler's Workshop, but I was not happy with the one order that I placed with them. Their rings were cut so poorly that each side of the ring required extensive sanding to level them out. That was the last cork order I placed with them and was about 6 years ago. Everything else I have received from them has been top notch tho....

Who ever you go to, you can always send the cork back if you are unhappy....

BTW, the only cork I have ordered from the shops listed has been their highest grade cork. Good luck. Dan
