Hey guys. I am building my self a striper rod. I am using a 10 ft lami blank, heavy action. This is going to be a baitcaster. Normally, if I were to build a baitcaster I would build it michigan style(guides spiraling around the blank). Should i do this for the striper rod? What reel seat would you reccomend? Trigger or no trigger? Thanks for you help.
Sincerely, DAn colville Re: striper rod

Hi Dan,
Michigan style, I've haven't heard that one before. Yes on spiral. Is this for shore (surf, jetty, ect) fishing? If it's for surf fishing you may not want a trigger but other than that I think a trigger is personal preference. Hank On The Rocks Fishing Wells, ME. Re: striper rod

I'd leave the trigger off - setting the rod in a sand spike or other (pier) rod holder can be "difficult" with a trigger in place. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
