Well I went and indulged and bought the Jet mini six speed. Now I just need to make it useful for rodbuilding. (sandpaper, 4 in 1 tool, gouges, mandrels). I think tools and acc. will be just as expensive as the lathe. Oh well next paycheck. Re: New addition to family

My wife always said that I looked at a new power tool with more admiration then my kids. My reply as I was stroking my new table saw was what kids!!! Hank On The Rocks Fishing Wells, ME. Re: New addition to family

I know better than to have kids now. With rod building, tourneys, and no steady woman who can deal with my never being home. I think the lathe would be a better family member than I. Oh and I think I'm a kid myself. Re: New addition to family

Bryan your going to love the lathe. I have one myself. Wood handles was the reason I got into rod building. I saw the rods on the mud hole cover and had to have one. Just so you dont make the same mistake as I did. Dont buy the nova compact chuck. Very nice chuck but not very good for rod building. I am still getting by with mine but it seems it eith doesnt go small enough or doesnt go large enough. And they dont have any jaws that will work in between. I thought it would work great mount the handle up in it and turn away. Nope!! I think the best investment would be a good set of mandrels from Andy. Do you have a drill press? I just got one but I havnt used it yet. I thought I really needed one so I got one and I dont really need it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
