I am buiolding a shikari PSB 702 (8-15# line and 1/4 to 5/8 oz lures) and am trying to decide what size guides for the choke to tip guides. Either size 6 or 8. Line will be 10# mono or fluoro carbon and also 14# fireline with a leader. I will test cast, but looking for others experience also here to help decide.

#6's or #7's would be more than large enough. You won't be using even 10% of the available ring diameter with those size lines.

Thanks Tom. I was wondering since on my last spinning rod set up New Concept style was a St Croix 70 mlf and I used size 6's. However (with 6# mono) the 70 mlf with 1/4 oz weight was outcast my a 70 mf st. croix baitcaster with 12# mono (same 1/4 weight) and a curado. Seemed like the spinning should have out cast the casting and wondered if the line was being choked.

Spinning outfits will not cast as far as good baitcasting outfits, size for size. No, the line was not being choked. Run some through a #6 guide and see if you can get it to hang up or "choke."
