I would like to hear what most of you are stringing those works of art with. So far I really like the Mastery series of fly line. What about Orvis wonderline???

I have tried just about every fly line out there and my choice is Airflo and Rio.

Mike , I just recieved 5 new mastry lines in the mail yesterday , I'm switching from the Wonderlines . A couple of the smaller wieght wonderline (advantage) that I've purchased in the last year wont float (yes , they were floating lines) the shop gladly exchanged them stating they had a problem with a missed step in the coating . 3 lines later , they still sank . I liked the way they cast , but they need to float. I got some XXDs , and a couple of streamer express lines to try....... we'll see. Have fun , JHD

As long as the line is soft and flexable. Don't like the stiffer lines like the Orvis or the new Cortland 555

Sci. Anglers XPS. It's the only line I buy anymore for typical 3-5 wt. trout fishing.

SA's old Ultra3 AST lines for 5wt and under. I stocked up when shops were blowing them out for the new lines.
I have 4 years on a few of them....still floating high with 2 cleanings a year.
(I havent tried any of their newer AST trout lines, but have heard only good things.)

Just returned my Orvis Wonderline Superfine WF1F for a Rio Pocketwater WF1F.....we'll see how it fishes.

On my 6wt I use an Orvis Streamer Stripper

For my 8 and 10wts, i use a Rio Versitip. Great line!
(The Orvis interchangeable tip lines separated at the loop-to-loop connectors...after 3 outings!)

On my light rods, the Rio pocketwater and Sage Quiet Taper. Both load short. The Rio casts farther but has more memory.

My favorites:

Airflo Multi-tip
The welded connection does not hinge or tie up in guides like other multi-tip lines.

SA Lines
Good lines - decent price

Least Liked:

Rio Versa-tip
The connection is bulky and hinges during casting. I find it almost impossible to cast the connection through the guides.

Cortland 555
I know of no one that likes this line.

wulff's triangle taperlines. Nice delicate tip. Roll casts beautifully.
cortland 333 DT lines great value, work fine and last a long time- like them better than 444 and 555

555 clear floater is the worst line I've ever fished with. Horrible memory even when stretched in the heat of mid summer.

The Cortland 555 in 'sage' color was actually a pretty decent line; I fished one of them into the ground over the course of three years and it worked quite well matched with a 9'9" 6wt SCIV. It did not have much memory especially when the weather & water were around the 60F mark.

The clear floater 555 was truly an atrocious line. Think of 130lb mono tightly wound onto a fly reel...

My two favorites and I've used a bunch, the SA lines- Ultra 4 and the Mastery series with their AST coating and the RIO lines (the exact series and taper in accordance with what I'm doing) Least favorite or most overated I would say, Cortland 444 Lazer line, Cortland 555, and the Wonderline by Orvis.
