Does anyone have the starting guide placements for a 8'9" 3 pc 4wt fly rod. I'm building a Dan Craft Sig V and can't find the starting placements measurments in any of my guide charts for an 8' 9" 3 pc. I plan on static adjusting after I get them close. Thanks in advance..

Clark, static placement of the guides really dosen't require any preset placement. I generally set my smaller guides or running guides at 5" intervals or what ever looks good. The remainder I set adding 1/2 - 3/4 inch to the spacing of each guide.

Once all the guides are on, I load the rod and start the guide placement according to the flex characteristics of the rod (static guide placement).

Clark: I am a HUGE proponent of static guide placement, so I offer this more to satisfy your curiosity than as a suggestion to follow, but I do have Dan's recommended guide spacing for his rods if you (or anyone else) is interested.

All the best,
