Harnell / Harrington Rods

A customer brought in what looks to be a 50 or 80 lb. IGFA , trolling rod.
It has a Harnell white front grip, but the blank is white, worked on many Harnell rods, never saw a white Harnell blank. Many years ago rod builders could purchase the Harnell front grips, and put them on custom built rods other than Harnell's. Has any of my fellow rod builders ever seen or repaired a Harnell blank other than the standard black. The Customer swears its a Harnell, is the customer always right.

Rich

Rich,
In this case I am not sure that the customer is right. Over a period of a lot of years I have seen and built a heck of a lot of Harrinton/Harnells and have never seen anything other than a gloss black one.

Hi Rich - I used to work with Jean and John Harrington when they were in Oxnard, Ca. John left us several years back but Jean moved to her Daughters and continued with building rods. My last address for her was:

Jean Harrington
Rural Route 2, PO Box59a
Bramer, MO. 64624
Fax660 645 2559
work 660 645 2495

find out from the source. I hope she is still putting out those Beautiful Harnells and she has a US line too.

Could you tell me if Harnell/Harrington went out of business? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Chip
