Sage Xi2 question

I am building a Sage Xi2 8wt. This is the first 4 piece fly rod Ive made. Im assuming I will find the spline the same way I always do on a one or two piece rod. Do the alignment dots on the blank mark a spline or do they simply provide a quick way to align the 4 pieces?
Thanks for any help you can give! --Joe Re: Sage Xi2 question

Joe,
The factory dots indicate the 'straightest line' not the spine. You've likely already found the blank to be dead straight. Spine it as you normally do - you may have trouble with the butt section. The Sage Xi2 is a terrific blank! Andy Snedden Re: Sage Xi2 question

BTW - the dots can be scraped off with your fingernail or a paper towel with some alcohol.

Hi:
Yes, as Andy said, the dots indicate the "straightest VISUAL line' of the blank where the Factory Rod is built so customer will not think it is a deffective graphite. May I ask if You think the Xi2 as a "STIFF" or "HEAVY" tip rod/blank? Thanks! P.S: What color of thread are You wrapping it with? Re: Sage Xi2 question

Adolfito,
The blank is very light in my opinion and has good stiffness. Of all the Sage blanks Ive built, this is definitely the nicest one. Light and powerful feeling. I cant wait to use it! Going to be working on it today and am leaning toward a blue/black with a metallic blue trim possibly. Re: Sage Xi2 question

Joe:
A blue (dark blue) with metallic blue trim would look great on any blue blank. Also, You can add "details", for example, in wrapping the ferrules with black thread, too. Enjoy your new rod !!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
