Date: March 27, 2002 08:47AM Good morning gents. Thanks for the help on my guide issue down below! I ended up with 12 guides vs 14. (8'6" SCIV 4wt) Any way I wrapped my tip section last night and I inspected my threads with a jewelers loupe (10x). What I noticed on this ST Croix Legend blank was that there were hundreds of small indented dash marks along the blank length wize noticable only with the loupe. I initialy thought this was the spine line but the dash marks spiraled around the blank and the dash mark size and spacing was precice . Any Ideas Im just Just curious? PS; Thanks for steering me to the fuji guides. once I found a method to secure the guides wrapping was too easy. Happy wraps "John" Re: St Croix Legend blanks have strange,

Maybe aliens have landed in Park Falls, Wisconsin, and are trying to communicate with us. Clyde Re: St Croix Legend blanks have strange,

There is no such thing as a “spine lineâ€. The spine is not a physical thing, it is an effect caused by a number of manufacturing anomolies. The ridges or marks you see are left over from the taping process used during the curing stage of the blank. Most makers now sand their blanks to remove these ridges from the outside of the bank for cosmetic reasons. Because the fibers farthest from the middle of the structure carry most of the load, the maker is careful not to sand too deeply, which could compromise the integrity of these important outermost fibers. What you are seeing is the last remnants of these ridges which the manufacturer was careful to sand down to, but not entirely through. Sounds like a very carefully finished blank to me. .................. Re: St Croix Legend blanks have strange,
