I have look at the specs on the MB841E and I have looked at the website and don't see anything about power or action. The lure wieght looks good. I know live bait have softer tips but I don't want a noodle. If somebody Knows anything about this blank I would appreciate your opinions Thanks Doug

LAMIGLAS MB-84-1E

MB = "Mooch Bait" . I believe this rod blank's taper or action is considered to be a MODERATE taper/action blank for the entire series. From the Lamiglas MB-96-3M which I have, that is how I would describe the blank's taper. Definitely not a "slow" action.

The last digit -1- describes the blank's relative POWER within that series. A less subjective description of that POWER can be assesed from the LINE-WT. and the LURE-WT. rating of the blank.

The last letter -E- refers to the ACTION-taper of the blank (not the power) within that series of blanks. (Which may be another way of saying that all the blanks are cut from different segments of the same, but longer, mother blank.). E = Extra Fast (not E = E-glass for "electrical" insulator fiberglass.)

Your Supplier should be able to tell you more. If not, the man is :

Have fun with it , Doug. I have always wanted to try that blank myself, and this may just get me going. -Cliff Hall, Gainesville, FL-

Since when is "A-S-S-E-S-S-E-D", as in "DETERMINED", a dirty word?
Sorry I didn't NOTICE that on my review before Posting.

PS - all this series IS constructed of the E-modulus glass. It is just the the -1-E- refers to the extra-fast blank action within that series, NOT to the material out of which the blank is made. -Cliff Hall-.

Doug,
we do build a bass crankin' rod from this blank that is rated 8-20 lbs. The description's from the guys above are accurate in reference to the 1=power, E=action.
