Tiger eye 3/4 blank reviews

I was wondering if those of you who have built on the 4pc 8ft-9ft 3/4 Tiger Eye blanks could offer your opinions on each and possibly share some thoughts on how you feel they compare to each other?

I plan on grabbing a few shortly and am looking for feedback on each model you've tried, and especially, how they are compared to each other. Most of the Tiger Eye's I've tried in the 3/4 have been either 2pc,with the exception of the 8ft 3/4,so I'm mostly interested in feedback on the 4pc 8ft6 3/4 and 4pc 9ft 3/4.

How does the 8ft6 compare to the 9ft model in the 4pc?

Out of all the 3/4 Tiger Eye blanks, both 2pc and 4pc,has anyone found one particular configuration to be consistantly sweeter, crisper,or simply nicer than the others?

Every line of blanks seems to have a few models that reallly stand out from the rest of the line up(the St Croix SCIV 2pc 8ft6 4wt comes to mind),so I'm curious which,if any,of the Tiger Eye's might fall into the same catagory?

While I'm asking, how about the 4/5 blanks?Has anyone found some models to be closer to a 4wt than a 5wt,and if so,which ones?

Tony, I wish I could help more but most of the 3/4 Tiger Eyes I've built have been short ones and many of them were built pre-CCS. For what it's worth, most have seemed to be sensibly rated based on their ERNs and actions. As an example, the 7034-2 I built had an ERN of 3.86 and the 8656-4 I build was in the upper 5s. I have also noticed that they don't feel particularly crisp in longer models but that 7034-2 I built and the 6023-2 I built for my daughter are crisp feeling rods with the rated lines. I built an 8645-4 for somebody, pre-CCS and it seemed to cast with the rated lines like a comparable St. Croix Imperial (SCII).

Not much to go on but better than nothing I guess. Nice rods for the money and extremely attractive. The butt diameters on some models make it hard to fit certain reel seats (large O.D.).

Steve

Thanks Steve.I was hoping to get a bit more feedback than this considering how many people have built on these blanks,LOL.

Oh well,I guess I'll just have to get a few and see for myself.
