OK...I should be all set to start pickin' your brains! I'm a complete "newbie" to this so I need to purchase a book and/or video that will cover all the bases! I want to build some basic spinning rods along with some ice rods. I don't need to get into anything fancy but I want some good quality built rods! I've received a couple of catalogs already and as soon as I get a book or video, I'm going to start buying the "tools of the trade"! Thanx for any and all help and I'm sure you'll be seeing me on here from now on!!! Jeremy

Get Tom Kirkman's book and if you want a DVD, get Ken Preston's.

Doc SKi also has a DVD on rodbuilding. I think Mudhole carries it.

No doubt, I not a "complete newbie" but just in the next step. No doubt for books: T. Kirkman's "Rod Building Guide" as a guide, covering all basics. Dale P. Clemens' ones for a most deep explanations. And regarding videos, Ken Preston will let you see how things are done, further to that you can understand in the books.

Finally, if you go to make weaving in the future, Doc Ski's video will save you hudreds of hours.

Of course, I'm talking just about what I've bought. I'm sure there are other interesting books and videos, and you'll always learn something from each one.

The trick is to get as much knowledge as possible, and I would recomend all the DVD, Videos from all the authors, each one will teach you something different or a different way which might be easier for you.
