Don I would Like to visit with you about your techniques with Klass Kote. I plan to use it on a Trout Unlimited rod over YLI silk. Any tips would be appreciated. I tried to e-mail but your e-mail is hidden.
Thanks Jim Re: For Don Davis

Do you already have your Klass Kote? If not, you should get some satin catalyst and some reducer to go with your gloss catalyst and clear. The satin has more body than the gloss and acts as a color preservor. You can do all gloss and clear, however. Ask away. Re: For Don Davis

Don
I've been using Klass Kote over two coates of perma gloss and have liked the results. I want to try just Klass Kote on my next rod. How do you apply the first coat, flood coat or a light coat? Brush or Spatula? I have the gloss only. Jim Re: For Don Davis

My E-mail is now unhidden. I posted my method of application about a week ago. With the gloss catalyst, mix up the mixture. Do not thin. Apply with the plastic palette knife as I described, that is, enough to soak, then dry the knife and remove all the finish you can with the flat of the blade against the wrap. Remember you have two dry sides on the palatte knife. Dry the knife on a coffee filter. Do one wrap at a time. With a magnifying glass make sure you have pressed all the fuzzies down onto the sticky surface. Let the wraps dry 24 hours and repeat. The wrap is not quite filled. I then use a foam brush cut into strips to apply the final finish. Let the mixture set in the cup for 45 minutes until it thickens a bit. Put more finish on then you need and wick off the sag. Put the finished blank on a slow turn drying motor. You will not get the same amount of color with the gloss as you do satin. You could do this technique with the Permagloss, but it will get sticky faster and would not fill as well. Try a wrap off blank and let me know how it works for you. Re: For Don Davis
