Hi, I plan to build me up a 3 wt. 8 ft. rod with the action of a sage LL series but don´t want spend such much money for it.
Is there anybody how can give an advise in the blank jungle to find an alternativ for this? Re: Blank advise sage LL / VPS-light

I have a 9' 5 wgt Sage LL and recently built an Amtak Matrix 8' 4 wgt. The actions were similar and the Amtak came out with an ERN of 2.97 and AA of 69. Re: Blank advise sage LL / VPS-light

Mike,
From the 2 LL data entries in the CCS database, both for model 389 (8'9" 3wt.), it seems that the action of the blank Gerry suggests comes out just about right. Looks like both blanks have a nice soft tip. Keep in mind that the actions can vary quite a bit within a series, though, so how the 380 (8' 3wt. ) compares to the 389 is a but of a guess but hopefully it's similar. Also important is the power or ERN. Gerry's blank is slightly less powerful than the 389 models listed in the CCS database but not much less. For the price of the Amtak it would be a pretty low cost and low risk experiment that might just work out great. If you buy it I would suggest testing it with the CCS before you actually glue components onto it. If you come out with something in the 3 to 3.5 range or so and an AA in the upper 60s, I would definitely build it. Another blank I have experience with that pretty well matches those specs is the Dan Craft 803-5pc. I entered it in the database and as I recall it tested out at 2.97/68. Not quite as inexpensive as the AmTak, but not even a quarter of the price of the Sage blank. Steve Re: Blank advise sage LL / VPS-light

Thanks Gerry and Steve for focussing my look at the CCS I have never heard before. I will have a look at the Matrix Blank.
