Bill is out of town on business for a few days and asked me to post this when I had time. Bill was a big help at the show and I know many of you enjoyed his enthusiasm and trim band presentation amoung other things he did for us there.

I was quite fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend and moderate the Manufacturers Panel that was held at 3:00 pm on Saturday in Charlotte.  This session was conducted in a seminar room upstairs while many rodbuilders were gawking, in total sensory overload, at the huge display of items on the main floor of the Convention Center.  The intensity of activity, in the display, area created a situation where many people completely lost track of time.  If Charlotte 2006 is in your plans make this panel discussion one of your higher priorities.  The "Candy Store" can do without you for this hour!

During this brief hour, a wide range of subject matter was discussed.  Questions related to the formation of a trade organization, computerized blank design, measurement standardization, component life, fishing style terminology, blank quality, product uniqueness, marketing goals, the joy of having the right tool, product quality and importance of custom builders to total market were submitted to the panelists from the builders.

The panelists answered each question with responses that were on target.  Different positions were stated in an informative and non-confrontational manner.  The responses from the panelists were complete, honest, no nonsense, and highly informational.  It was highly evident that these guys not only work in the rodbuilding field but that they also love what they do!  Each of them really treasures each custom builder as a valuable customer.

The last question from the floor was directed at all panelists - - I quote!

"Thank each of you for taking the time and expending the recourses to be with us at Charlotte WOW!"

They all received a standing ovation.
