I just finished a burl cork handle with ruberzied end pieces. Have always wanted to try the True-Oil I hear so much about. Is it compatable with the ruberized cork or should I aviod it and use cork seal instead? BTW also tried Tite Bond III--Loved it--NO GLUE LINES what-so-ever!!!

Fred, go ahead with the tr-oil over the rubberised cork. I have used it regularly with no ill effec ts.

I treated a cork handle that had a rubberized cap with MinWax and then TruOil. It darkened the rubberized cork considerably, but otherwise seems fine.

Tru-Oil darkens rubberized cork and seals it very nicely. I am very pleased with the results I get on both rubberized cork and burl cork. I'm eager to combine rubberized cork rings with the new burnt burl cork that Andy Dear (Lamar Reel Seats) is selling. The rod he had on display in Charlotte had grips with the new cork finished with U-40 Cork Seal. The results were simply incredible!
Soft as butter with a non-slip surface. I plan to build grips with the burnt and light burl cork plus rubberized cork for the ends; and treat it all with U-40 Cork Seal. I expect great results and will post a report when finished.

I did several grips just as you mentioned a few months ago and they turned out SPECTACULAR!

I used quite a few coats of Tru Oil to build up to a wonderful semi gloss to gloss finish.The grips I did with Cork Seal look nice,but nothing like the ones done withTru Oil.It makes the cork look more like a piece of burl wood.

The only Tru Oil available in my area is the spray on can,so I used that and just sprayed on multiple coats,rubbing it into any cracks with my finger,then wiping off the excess with a clean cloth that I lightly soaked in Tru Oil.I buffed the grip with steel wool in between each coat(maybe 5 or 6 coats total) with the exception of the last one.

Burl cork finished like this looks amazing once on the rod and I find myself using burl far more than regular cork now.I love combining it with a gorgeous NS/burl wood seat especially.
