Dear friends,
I've beeing watching some videos and I've seen people marking the blans with permanent markers, to locate wraps. These markers are not "permanent" when using alcohol. How are these marks cleaned after wraping?. I think there is a risk of "painting" threads. Re: Making marks on blanks

Daniel, I use white china markers. No worries with bleeding and cleans up easy with a white eraser. Regards......Doug@ TCRds Re: Making marks on blanks

I started using a white out pen to layout my wraps. I just wrap over the dots and haven't had a problem Re: Making marks on blanks

I use a bic whiteout pen. Puts on a small white dot or a very fine line that can be popped off when I'm done with it. Re: Making marks on blanks

Watch some whiteouts; they cannot be removed without a chisel and will remove finish. If used, be sure to place mark where you can wrap over it. To be sure, go the white china marker route; it will come off. C2 Re: Making marks on blanks

I routinely make my wrap patterns on 4x6 index cards. I lay out the entire wrap on a card (one for each size guide) with a pencil. The card also contains a mark for the center of the wrap. I then can make a mark on the blank where each guide will be centered. For guides with underwraps I make a small scratch while guides that don't have underwraps just receive a light pencil mark. Then I just hold the card up to the blank and align the center marks. I can make any other marks on the blank with a pencil and just wrap over them or wipe them right off.
