How do you guys/gals chuck a handle (cork, eva or otherwise), also a blank, in a dryer or power wrapper/chuck so as not to damage the blank or handle? Re: Chucking a blank or handle

Steve,
I put masking tape around it. I do it so it fits snug with the sticky side out, then I wrap another section over the sticky side, so there is sticky on sticky. If you are worried about indents on the cork, I take a piece of styrene (used in model railroad building I get at the hobby shop) and cut tiny pieces so it fits over the chuck, or in my case the bolt. I put it between the bolt and the cork. This works for me, as I just did this today. I am new at this, so someone else here might be able to give you some advanced techniques. Hope this helps. I use a PVC pipe cap for a chuck it has 3 Eqi-distant holes drilled in the outside1/4 inch Dia. X 3/4 in
put thru from the inside with a nut on the outside and use 3 Rubber bands to hold the blank hooked from bolt to bolt Re: Chucking a blank or handle

I have a three jaw chuck and if I'm doing foam handle I glue butt cap on or use double stick tape to keep it from working out of chuck. Almost screwed up a rod that was turning in dryer, went in house for 20 min. came out and found butt of rod a 1/4" from coming out of dryer. If I'm doing cork either clamp butt cap or clamp where butt cat will glue on. As for clamping a blank I just wrap tape and snug chuck to it. Foam is the one you have to watch, you can't clamp it tight enough without tape. Hope this helps.ED.. Re: Chucking a blank or handle
