I have tried the grit reamers, and made some out of cloth backed abrasive bonded to blank sections.

I am looking to find out what the mass producers use for powered reaming, any help would be appreciated.

Don...can't answer your question on "industrial strength" but I've used both reamer techniques you've used,and recently picked up some Norton 3X sandpaper that I contact cemented to a scrap, and it works pretty slick. Plus you get and assortment of grit depending on what your working on. (I cut the sheets into 1/2" strips and spiralled it onto a scrap blank with a 1/4" gap between the grit).

my basic set of reamers is a set of three different sizes of rattail files. i cut the tangs of so i can chuck them in a drill. turn them counter clockwise and they cover most jobs. to that i have added three different sizes of commercial reamers i think i got from anglers workshop. i use these to finish up by hand if i need to.

The large manufacturers of rods use tapered steel rods with sharpened groves, like long teeth, in them. They put these in the chuck of a lathe and run the cork onto the reamer by hand. It just takes a couple of seconds to ream out a cork with these. I have several that I got from a rod manufacturer that went out of business but normally they are very expensive.

I got a roll of adhesive from Mud Hole and have several reamers of different sizes and still have a lot left to do a lot more
The grit can come off inside a cork handle and then scratch a blank when you slide it on??!!
