Queston for members of the 1wt club...

I planned to use one of REC's smallest and lightest slide band seat on my Sig. III 1wt, but after weighing it in at a whopping 0.57oz, i'm not going to use it.
The completed rod would weigh near 1.5 oz.

With cork grip, recoil guides, thread, etc., i'm wondering what you all used to keep the weight down in the neighborhood of 1oz?
I dont want to use an EVA foregrip.
I'm thinking I should build an all cork seat with 2 sliding bands....

What sponsors sell slide band ring sets, or all cork seats with slide bands.
I'm willing to pay for quality here....

Thanks everyone!
RB

I think Jann's Netcraft has the cork slide band reel seats.

I see 2 possible options. Jann's has both the cork handles and either aluminum or graphite sliding rings to go with it. The other option would be to get a cork insert and a #16 skeleton seat. Also at Jann's, but I'm sure other sponsors carry them. I'm not sure which would be lighter.

Hi Robert--we have REC's PLRN seat in stock because of it's popularity to go with the Dan Craft Sig III 1wts. It's an all-cork seat with nicely done lightweight silver slide rings and a very fine (read: light) silver butt cap. You'll find a picture of it on our online store under reel seats...REC...Nickel Silver (it's on the second page of seats). I believe the seats we have in stock all incorporate REC's signature rope knurling, but they are also available with straight or diagonal knurling.

There are other options, to be sure, but this is the nicest of the ultra-light's that we've found! :)

Warmly,

Robert , I have used the seat that Mr Launstein is teling you about on a 2 wt , and it is very light . The finished 2 wt was 1.69 oz on an IM6 blank , using that seat , and Recoils . I used the PLRW for the looks on my rod , and a couple of burl rings in the cork so the extra weight wasn't an issue .The REC hardware is outstanding , pretty and functional on both of those seats . I realy don't think you will be able to tell the difference from one to the other with the rod strung with line . Just my thoughts...............still haven't fished with my rod yet . ( ,':>( ) Have fun , John
