I am building a few ice jigging rods for a guide in upstate New York and he would like the spring bobbers attached directly to the blank. Has anyone ever tried this. Using the rubber sleeve seems to fall off alot and he would like them attached directly. He is aware that if the spring bobber breaks, you have to repair the whole pole.
Thanks in advance, Dick Murchison Re: spring bobbers attached to blank

Why would the pole have to be replaced ? If the spring bobber is wrapped with thread , all you got to do is replace it like replacing a guide.

Larry,
Thats what I meant. Sorry for the misunderstanding. What I meant is that I would have to do a minor repair job to the rod. Thanks for the reply, Dick Re: spring bobbers attached to blank

Putter has been doing this on some rods. He had some pictures on the photo board. I think he is at the show (lucky dog), but I am sure he will give you his opinion.... Re: spring bobbers attached to blank

There are also pictures on St. Croix's website of their spring bobbers. To attach them to the rod you would tie a fly guide near the tip of your rod and insert an appropriately-sized rubber grommet into the fly guide. The St. Croix spring bobber fits snugly in the rubber grommet. The spring bobbers are available from Cabela's by mail order for about $6.00 each. They come in 3 diferent strenghts.
