Cross Cut Cork???

Does anybody know where I can find cross cut (I think) cork rings? Pacific Bay markets full grips that they call Bamboo Burl Cork, and Mud Hole Tackle sells full grips under the trade marked name of Knotty Cork. These grips are quite beautiful (I think there are a couple of rods on the cover of the 2005 Mud Hole Catalog that utilize this cork and they are amazing!!!), but they don't work with what I am designing. I would like to get rings so I can design and build a grip to suit my project. If these aren't available, does anybody know of a product that is comparable? Thank you!

Paul

I'm looking at very highly figured cork. I read "somewhere on the internet" that it was called cross cut cork. I'm just trying to find rings of the stuff instead 9of full grips. If you go to the MUD HOLE link and do a product search for knotty cork you can see it. After doing a little more research, I think I can get the effect that I want using brown burl cork. I just want something that is very grainy. Thanks for the reply!!

If I understand what you are looking for, I use burl cork with Tru-oil finish.

Hey Noel,
WOW! That burl cork from Lamar is incredible! Thanks for the tip. That will be perfect for the handle I am going to build. That is the most beautiful cork I have ever seen.

Hey Steve,
You are correct! I was given bad information. What I was looking at was burl cork. I am going to get some to work with. Is it just me, or do all of you have 100 different rod designs in your head all the time? Every time I try to work out my design, I find something new I want to try. Imagine how crazy I will be when I learn how to do all of this!! Thank you all for taking the time to answer questions for a newbie!!
